Displaying media within content

Overview

Instructors may create content items with displayed media, such as images, audio, and multimedia files. The media file may be embedded directly within the content item so it is displayed right on the page. These content items may be added to any Content Area, such as Course Documents, or Course Information. Content items are added through the Add Content page.

Note: Users may attach different types of files from the Text Box Editor, using the option in the third row of the action bar. For additional information see the Text Box Editor topic. If the WYSIWYG features are enabled in the Text Box Editor, files set to “Display media within content” will appear within the Text Box Editor after they are submitted.

The Add Content page may be used to embed media files in a content item. When the Content Area is accessed by a Student, these files will automatically appear on the page.  An example of a Content Area with embedded images is shown below. The image file (Train – Image) and the sound file (Train – Sounds) are embedded media files. The handout is an image file that has been linked to this Content Area.
